Welcome!

Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records (FRBR), originally published in 1998, has been discussed and explored for nearly a decade. The FRBR model provides great opportunities for creating retrieval systems that better support user information seeking. The FRBR model is being widely embraced by library communities, prompting expectations that future cataloging standards and, consequently, library practice and system development will undergo major changes.

This web site provides information about a three-year IMLS-funded project concerning the research and development of FRBR-based retrieval systems. It also provides links to other FRBR-related resources. Your comments and suggestions are always welcome and greatly appreciated.
